Legs to Fly

According to UNICEF an estimated 93 million children with moderate and severe disabilities are living in the world. For all the diverse causes, ranging from diabetes, vascular diseases and trauma, to infections, burns and tumors, rehabilitation involves a variety of treatments aimed at the physical reconditioning for independence, the resumption of routine activities, the need for adequate prostheses and, above all, the acceptance of the condition.

UNICEF has found that sports transforms the lives of these children because it is a powerful social inclusion tool that encourages overcoming limits. Inspired by this insight, the Legs to Fly project was born. Created in partnership between Africa, ESPN and ID ETHNOS, famous athletes such as Marta Vieira da Silva and Gabriel Medina lent their legs to inspire the amputee children’s prosthetic cover.
